My students read a variety of novels each year. My goal for my freshmen is to introduce them to challenging, relevant literature from a variety of authors. My goal for my juniors is to walk them through literature that was important to American history as well as American literature. Since I teach in a low-income school, I am limited to teaching what novels we have on hand. I am blessed to have several to choose from. But a novel study is only as good as the preparation made by the teacher, and I could use some help with that. I am looking to purchase new teacher's guides for the novels I currently teach. Right now, about half of my novels do not have teacher's guides. This leaves me scrounging up whatever I can find online and writing lessons as I go. Procuring new guides would allow me to spend less time Googling and more time teaching. I believe my students would greatly benefit from these materials as well. I have selected multiple guides so I can choose the best from each and compare the perspectives of different publishers. This would give my students the best chance at getting something from the novels I am teaching.
