In my Band room, students have daily access to state-of-the-art music technology such as professional tuners, metronomes, and pitch recognition software. When my students go home, only the ones in high-income families can afford technology at half the quality of what we use in school. The funding of this project will allow all of my students access to the same high-quality music technology we use in the classroom at their homes. Once the premium metronome/tuner devices are received, students will first receive daily lessons designed to teach them how to best utilize the equipment. Once the students have demonstrated an understanding of how to use and maintain the equipment, it will be checked out to the students on a rotational basis for at-home use. The dream of this project is much larger than this submission. After several years, we hope to provide metronome/tuner devices for every student in the program, ensuring that all students and families, regardless of income, can have the same opportunities to further their pursuit of musical excellence.
