The math manipulatives I have chosen for my classroom will help my students to advance their learning through hands on experiences. COVID- 19 brought a new world to the school system through virtual learning. Students have grown accustomed to completing assignments on a chromebook and teachers are afraid to return to a world of paper activities without the fear of being prepared for another school closure. Students in special education need the extra intervention that virtual assignments struggle to provide. Therefore, hands-on learning activities shed a new light on previously taught curriculum. Through the use of math manipulatives, my students will be able to physically hold that 3D shape in their hand and count the sides and edges, graph those lines on an XY Coordinate Peg board, solve algebraic expressions with math stacks, and so much more. It is time for students to take learning into their own hands, literally, with these math manipulatives.
