These big books can help encourage reading, as well as give another fun reading activity for them each week. Sometimes kids need to know that books can come in all sizes. Right now they are shown their textbooks and library books. Big books would give them something new to be excited about. Toward the end of the year, I would set up a story walk for them, allowing them to read in our building or outside on the school grounds. Anytime a student can have happy, new thoughts, about reading, it's got to be good.
