Social-emotional learning is a huge focus in schools today. Throughout the pandemic, so many kids are dealing with more challenges in their homes due to parents losing jobs, working from home, or even living in multi-family situations. Times have been hard and it is evident in the lives of the students. They need more support handling their emotions and understanding what they are going through and strategies to help them feel better. The items I selected will be used mostly in the school setting. There are times we give social-emotional books to kids to take home if we know they don't have a lot of books in the home. Kids are so excited to have a book to take home and share with their families. There is a lack of that close connection happening in homes anymore. By getting families back to reading with their kids and sharing those moments together, we can enhance their lives.
