The pandemic helped us realize how important and beneficial classroom experiences can be. Robotics will give students the chance to collaborate with other students. Programming can also be done from home. Robotics will introduce students to the world of coding. Coding can be done anywhere that technology is present. This opportunity will also help students solve problems in a realistic way. Students are more engaged in my classroom when they are given the opportunity to create their own path. Pure inquiry science has no predetermined correct answer or procedure. My students struggle with problem-solving when multiple possibilities exist. Robotics gives students the opportunity to define the problem, brainstorm possible solutions, program and test their creations. At this time, we have no robotics in the classroom. This will be the first step. I would like to introduce robotics and get my students excited. I would love to get the beginning set of Lego Mindstorms using EV3 technology. My future goal is to build a classroom set so all my students could collaborate and compete with one another. Technology affects and impacts almost every area of our daily lives. The skills that students learn from robotics will benefit and support their futures.
