It's no secret that students today are dealing with an overwhelming amount of stressors. Societal upheaval, sickness, loss of loved ones, instability, online learning, disconnection from friends, and being constantly barraged with gloom from every angle are just some of the issues students have been facing throughout the pandemic. Students are coming to school more stressed-out than ever. In our counseling center, we are working to help students learn to be more mindful, calm their nervous systems, gain empathy, and make good choices. The addition of virtual reality to our school's calm room would give these students the ability to escape the stress, experience a more calming environment, and be more ready to learn.
