The project I'm submitting is intended to increase my students' overall reading fluency and comprehension skills. We teach whole group and small group instruction at our school. During our small group time, I meet with students to work on individual skills they are struggling with, or to enhance skills they have previously mastered. Those not at the teacher table are working independently or with partners/groups to practice a variety of comprehension/fluency activities. In order to increase my students' reading abilities, I believe it's very important to have appropriate materials that will challenge them at their own levels. The fluency and comprehension materials that I have requested, such as the Readers' Theater, the Fluency and Comprehension Partner Scripts, the card banks, and various high interest intervention folders, will be great tools to use in helping them to become more proficient readers.
