Ensuring output from students is a major goal of any teacher. For a language teacher, it is especially needed to assess where students are in their language journey. In order to assess students, I need output from all my students. However, some students struggle taking language risks and are afraid to produce any type of output in a whole class setting. My students are noticeably more willing to take language risks in an individual setting. The products that I have selected will help my students feel more comfortable participating in class discussions. Individual whiteboards will help my students feel more comfortable producing written output without the fear of looking foolish in front of the class. In addition, the headphones I have requested will allow students to talk in the target language in a more secure way by making videos and producing output with the built in microphone. I have seen how giving my students options to produce output can lower their affective filter and can positively affect a classroom community in a language learning classroom.
