Technology comes with its challenges. Although our district is one-to-one with technology, my students would benefit from additional resources to enhance their experience with technology. They would also benefit from materials that would allow me to implement the Science of Reading research in my classroom. In a time when most students are behind in reading, I would love to implement the teaching strategies supported in the Science of Reading research. Playdough, folders, and a laminator will all help me make and store materials to implement these strategies. Although iPads allow every child could have remediation or enrichment, on their level, at their fingertips, the noise level in the classroom can rise to a distracting level. Headphones for each student would ensure that everyone can hear their individualized lessons without disrupting the students around them. Another challenge to using iPads is that fine motor skills can suffer. Styluses would allow students to continue to practice handwriting and work with precision. Storing headphones and styluses for up to 30 students can be challenging, so the durable bags listed in my project would allow for every child to store their individual items safely, without fear of mixing up materials between students. The cardholders would be a safe place to store QR codes for logging into district applications
