These materials will help engage my students in the learning process while helping them develop social language skills to effectively communicate in their own lives outside of our classroom. Students learn social and emotional skills best through shared reading and play activities. These materials will help target these skills and so many more! Pretend play situations (for example, the kitchen and food sets) help students learn how to function in society in real situations. We can role-play different scenarios and practice problem-solving which helps students to become more resilient. Many of my students struggle with executive functioning skills, meaning that they have trouble knowing how to start something or approach a problem. These activities will help students acquire the skills needed to function in all areas of their lives. I want to be able to expose my students to fun and new materials to help them ignite a love for learning. I feel like I can best do this by making learning fun. I can use games, manipulatives, and interesting books and show them that there are many different ways to learn. I can use socio-emotional resources in order to build up their confidence and learn to express their feelings. I have many students who have sensory needs, so materials (such as the bottle stand and mini objects/charms) can help me incorporate sensory activities into their learning. Students are not able to function and approach learning if they are dysregulated. Special education students have been at a major disadvantage during this pandemic and require so much more support and supplies to help make up the difference! These materials will be used to help all students who enter our room: ages preschool-6th grades for this year and in future years. Thank you so much for considering donating to this
