In class, we have a quiet reading time daily. Struggling students often choose picture books so they can "look" at the illustrations because they are often unable to read many of the words. I can only imagine how frustrating that must be. Using these decodable readers, struggling readers will now have "real" books they can actually decode - making them readers! Building these essential phonics skills are an essential part of learning how to read and now students will be able to practice "true reading" on their own independent level. These books will help me to provide the best individual practice for each student!
