Our calming corner needs an uplift! We have a limited area to use as a calming/reading corner, so we want to make the best use of the space we have. We want to focus on their strengths and teach them how to recognize their emotions and how to discern from the expected and unexpected behaviors. The bean bag chair will be the perfect place for our students that have Autism to have a quiet, comfortable place to read and also some calming time. We love Mo Willems books, especially the Elephant and Pig collections! This will be the perfect addition to our reading/calming corner. As with most exceptional students, reading is a process that requires time, patience and motivational tools like the reading and calming word blocks. Having the kinesthetic sand will address their sensory needs while having fun building, sifting and creating! Your donation will help our exceptional students thrive in their reading skills while addressing their sensory needs at the same time! Our goal is to provide a quiet, comfortable space for our students where they can reset their emotions, explore through sensory materials and read engaging books.
