The use of headphones with microphne access is a crucial tool for my English Language Arts 4th Grade students. Most of my students began the school year with enormous gaps in their reading ability. In order to close these gaps, it requires differentiated instruction, skill-specific lessons, and interventions. All of these require students to be engaged and focused to achieve success. My students want to improve and they try as hard as they can to focus on the lessons and assigned tasks but it's really noisy in the room when everyone has their volume up because they don't have headphones. The lessons require them to speak into a microphone and record themselves to improve reading and fluency. This is difficult when there are the sounds of other students as they are reading, listening, or recording. Even though they are great about doing this, it is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and they miss important instruction from either myself or their interventions that are delivered on a technology platform. I purchased some with my own money at the beginning of the year, but they were cheap and didn't last 2 months. By having headphones with microphone capability, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning! By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. I have included water bottles and ink because our students are not allowed to use the water fountains, due to Covid and they never bring a bottle of water from home. They are having to go all day without water. If I can get water bottles for them to keep at school, that would be awesome!
