Students seemed to be really stressed with all the issues going on. We have spent some time online and some time in-person. I try in my science classes to create an environment where all students feel safe and comfortable. Many of our students suffer from food insecurity. Research has shown they students learn better when their basic needs are met. Some snacks for the students, and a vacuum to help keep our classroom clean, will go a long way to keeping our students in school as much as possible and stopping germs from spreading around our classroom. Since our in-person time is so precious, I try to plan labs and activities in our Chemistry class to help keep my students engaged and actively learning. We really need another scientific balance and other basic lab supplies so we can continue these activities.
