Reading and understanding Shakespeare, and the impact that his writing has on the stories we read today, is an integral part of a students ability to navigate the world around them. Reading Shakespeare allows students to analyze and interpret writing that is not as familiar to them as a modern day text. I want them to understand that Shakespeare's stories are timeless. Having access to his works teaches them that they are capable of understanding the structure and language of difficult texts and to make connections to themselves, other texts, and the world around them.
