Imagine students finding their place to sit on a colorful, welcoming story time carpet, listening to a story that causes giggles, inspires deep thinking and sparks growth. So much research shows that students who read, learn, and learn deeply. Inspiration to learn starts early, capturing a child's imagination with a beautiful story is just the beginning. Each library class starts with a warm welcome and mini lesson about how students can find a book to inspire learning and growth. After our mini lesson, we dive into a beautifully illustrated book and ruminate about the characters, their motivations, their emotions. Together, we make guesses and predictions about what might happen in the story world created by the author and illustrator. Watching students leave still chatting about the story is the best thing a librarian could ask for.
