During the COVID-19 pandemic, my students have missed out on a hands on, in person education. We finally have our students back, but so much of their curriculum is still on the computer. Even the new science curriculum is based off simulated experiments. As the new 4th grade science teacher, my class received nothing to "do" science. These materials will help the students rebuild their abilities to build relationships by teaching them to work together while they complete STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities. With these materials, my students would be able to build a basic robot, grow crystals and bacteria, and learn about tensile strength, design a straw roller coaster. They would also experiment with electrical circuits and conductivity, and get engineer structures. I believe the students would have a better understanding of science through a hands on education. I also believe the social emotional needs of my students would also be better met through more educational interaction. These materials would help me meet the Oklahoma Science Standards and thus helping my students towards being successful in the future.
