COVID-19 has taken a toll on student learning. Student absenteeism is off the charts, and the mental struggles my students face are real. School needs to be engaging, interesting, and hands-on! My students are active learners and the science kits add to my ability to keep 36 students constantly questioning, experimenting, and evaluating their experiences. Our community is mainly working class, our school is fairly remote, and field trips are almost nonexistent. My students need to gain valuable background knowledge and real-life experiences. The science kits and nonfiction library will be a first step in helping these kids have the real joy of learning.
