COVID-19 has emphasized the importance of connection in education. Students need to interact with each other on a high level to continue to grow as an emotionally regulated person. Games that teach self-regulation, as well as reinforcing grade level content, are the perfect bridge between peer connection and personal learning. Students need the power of play in the upper grades just as much as the lower grades- we as teachers just need to find purposeful ways to implement these social skill, while still working on the core academics that are so vital in fifth grade.

About my class
