My students will use these materials to create self-portraits of themselves. We will be discussing diversity and how it relates to our classroom. We have been studying Martin Luther King Jr. and the role diversity has played in the civil rights movement. These supplies will make it possible for my students to make true-to-life pictures of themselves, from their clothes, hair color, and skin color. Our discussion will include how we are different and how we are the same. We will be sharing our artwork with each other and other classes by displaying them in the hallway.
