The biggest issue plaguing young readers today is comprehension. Comprehension is reading something and being able to understand what you read. When given the choice, students will usually pick books that are on or under their reading level. Most students will not choose books that challenge their vocabulary bank. Most of these resources will help expose my students to a rich vocabulary resource through direct instruction while the rest of these resources will provide a diverse classroom library for students to choose from. Expanding the vocabulary bank increases reading comprehension making students more confident readers!
