Over the past few years, our students have been dealt a hand no one could have prepared them for. They are tackling learning at home, helping siblings learn from home, stressors from online presence, and so much more. The last thing school should be in yet another stressor. Social emotional wellness should be at the forefront of educators minds. Putting a priority on the emotional well-being of students cannot be done absentmindedly. The ability to add a calming space where students can go would give instant emotional and mental relief to everyone who enter our classroom. This space would provide a much needed mental pause to recollect our emotions. We are hoping to add a few flexible seating choices, a calming rug, books on Social Emotional Wellness, puzzles to help relax our thinking, and timers to ensure that we don't abuse the space. We thank everyone for their consideration of our mental health as they continue to support our classrooms.
