We've had our lab time shortened the last three years in a row. This year we've spend several weeks stuck at home because we had high Covid numbers. Last year we only had a 4 day week of classes. In 2020 we had our classes end in March due to Covid. We need some high quality scales so we can gather our lab data quicker, which will let us catch up on the labs we've missed since school has been shortened due to Covid. Just this month our school was closed for two weeks due to high Covid numbers. Even though we could continue school remotely we couldn't do our labs. Now I am desperately trying to catch up because I want the kids to get the full laboratory experience. I don't want them to miss the hands on fun part of science. Our lab has cheap postal scales instead of high quality scientific scales. Because the accuracy isn't as great on a postal scale, it took us two class periods to do a lab that could have been done in one, because the students couldn't seem to get accurate readings. The scales wouldn't tare, or numbers would waiver. If we could have high quality scales we could really ramp up the process and allow us to catch up on the labs we missed.
