My students have to work hard to overcome their disabilities. These math manipulatives will help them understand the very abstract concepts that students learn in fifth and sixth grade. Having concrete items that they can hold and move increases their ability to understand and reinforces logical thinking. Many of these students are relearning concepts from first and second grade. They need specialized materials to ensure growth and retention. These materials will also help motivate our students with focus issues. Research has shown that math manipulatives increase student retention and problem-solving.
