The writing materials will help the students' well-being by allowing them to express themselves in an art form outside of art class. Mapmaking gives them a different way to learn about the geography of our world and can help with stimulating the creative areas of the brain. Also, different students learn in different ways, and by adding an art form to geography gives more students the ability to feel like they can achieve success in it, even if it isn't their strongest or favorite subject. I think using markers and colored pencils also serves as a relief from stress for some of my students. It will help the students' well-being in light of Covid-19 by allowing them the ability to express themselves in an art form within a geography setting. It will also allow them to have the materials to work on projects at home instead of at school.
