Elementary music can be much more than the typical singing, games, and dancing. I want to give my students a chance to play wind instruments before they advance into our band classes. The WindStars Program is listed on their website as a "pre-band music class bringing children together to learn and perform fun music using Nuvo instruments." The Nuvo instruments come in two levels. Level one: Toot and Dood, which are very simplified versions of the flute and clarinet. Level two: jHorn, jSax, jFlute, and Clarenio. This start up project is just to give us access to one of each instrument, so the long range plan can develop correctly. This plan will give students grades 1 through 4 a chance to create music together and on their own, which in my opinion is the true goal of a music class.
