My students learn differently. They need lots of different ways to learn the topic. Games, manipulatives, and incentives help my students learn the way their unique brain learns. Because of the Covid gap, many of my kindergarten and 1st graders did not get preschool and this may be their first introduction to letters, sounds, and formal education. Manipulatives, hands on activities, games, and incentives give students an enjoyable learning experience. They are still learning the content but in a way that works for their unique brains. Students are curious and love to explore and do hands on things because it makes learning math and reading much more enjoyable.
