I am a Special Education teacher with a class of students from PK-12th grade. Over the years, and especially since the pandemic, I see my students struggling with a few key concepts in MATH and READING! Many are grade levels behind and giving up on learning. My students are lacking a strong number sense in math and a strong phonological awareness and vocabulary which is key to reading comprehension. The items I have chosen are well researched and will directly help the students work toward number and reading fluency. They are based on the research found in the LETRS science of reading program. Together we are in a position to help these students achieve long term success. The ability to understand number sense, read and write is something I feel has strongly declined since Covid. Immediate intervention is required. A student that can't read fluently will struggle their entire lives and be limited in what they can achieve.
