One of the points that my students struggled with during the Covid-19 pandemic was their own self-expression and being able to be an individual among the masses of masks. In order to increase their ability to express themselves and allow for greater social presence and emotional expression, we will be using the video equipment to allow students to make video recordings in class including motivational videos, documentaries, NPRs, how-to tutorials, and more. Students will be able to express themselves beyond just writing. This will allow them to rediscover their voices without just standing in front of the class with a trifold poster. To encourage students to give their best performance, we want to offer them real equipment to help them see the value of their work instead of just using a webcam on a Chromebook in class close to their faces and surrounded by their peers.
