Because of the pandemic, our school has provided my students with laptops so that they have access to work from home when necessary. This has brought about new challenges in my computer applications class.
Many students are either unable to charge their devices at home or have drained the battery by the time they reach my class. Having additional tables and power strips would make it more convenient for students to charge their devices while in my classroom. I would also like to provide a “charging station” with a few extra chargers connected and ready for anyone who has forgotten their charger at home. I plan to allow any students, whether they are in my class or not, to make use of this station as needed.
In our rural area, where 70% or more of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches, even small purchases can be very challenging for the families. I would like to provide a padded laptop sleeve to each of my students for use in transporting their school laptops. This would help to protect the laptops and keep them in good working order to avoid any interference with my students’ ability to learn.
