I want to use these three board games to help students to understand, in a fun, hands-on activity some of the more difficult Earth and Space Science concepts that they struggle with. If students are engaged and enjoying the activity, they are more likely to learn. Effective games link content with low-stakes competition and can provide a more collaborative, engaging classroom experience—especially for students who may struggle to focus or find their niche in learning. During the pandemic, games can provide an important outlet that keeps kids connected and motivated. According to research, using games in teaching can help increase student participation, foster social and emotional learning, and motivate students to take risks.
