The graphic novel aspect of the story helps students feel more confident in learning and reading, which can help them feel more confident about school in general. This particular text also teaches students about very human experiences such as love, change, facing challenges, and relationships. These are all things students can feel connected to. Finally, the story is funny and lighthearted-- something I think we all need sometimes for our emotional wellbeing!
