These books will create a robust collection of nonfiction in our classroom library. Currently, our classroom library is only 13% nonfiction. My students do not see nonfiction as a worthy type of reading, and students need more opportunities to experience nonfiction as they move towards high school and become more experienced researchers. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am seeing many learning gaps in my students' knowledge that normally are not there. These nonfiction books will be a wealth of knowledge for students about the world around them as well as scientific concepts that they have not personally experienced yet or missed throughout COVID-19 closings and distance learning. These books will allow students to gain new knowledge and vocabulary that they need to understand their history lessons, science lessons, choice reading novels, and more. Help us build our classroom library by donating to these guided reading sets.
