COVID-19 has presented a unique challenge for everyone - including my students. Being a teenager in the modern world is difficult under normal circumstances, but with the added challenges and uncertainty of a global pandemic, I am seeking additional ways to help my students explore their emotions and express themselves. Through this project, I will be able to give my students an opportunity to create expressive self portraits with high quality materials so they can see that their voices matter during a time where they have little control over their circumstances. The art classroom often serves as a safe haven for students who need an outlet for their emotions. We will use these supplies to create opportunities for self expression and technical skill development.
