These materials will have a direct impact on increasing student learning and understanding of scientific practices and inquiry. The digital microscope will allow students to examine real scientific specimens and view phenomena whether we are learning in the classroom or at home. The skull replicas and fossils will bring nature straight into the classroom and allow students to feel and see the adaptations that are unique to each animal species in a much more effective way than a video or photo would. Research shows learning happens with students who are engaged and actively participating in their learning goals. The digital microscope and specimens allow this to happen and open the door to a mindset of scientific inquiry for my students.
