Throughout history, reading has been proven to enrich and enlighten young minds. Additionally, students who have a love for reading demonstrate an increased ability to perform well academically and become successful within their fields of endeavor. One of the most important things that students can do to prepare for their futures is read. Within my project, students are asked to read at least 1500 pages each semester (that's about 5 books). To accomplish this, students are asked to read from home each day. For many of our students, reading 10 books throughout a school year is more than they may have read throughout their lives. Students are to read these books at home. This allows them to increase their reading stamina, build reading comprehension skills and demonstrate their ability to accomplish difficult tasks in small but simple steps. Having books to read allows students to practice reading skills in the classroom and continue their educations while they're at home. This is crucial to the education of our ELL and ESL students and many others. Many of our students come to our schools with low reading levels. This can impact their quality of education and their ability to succeed throughout their lives. Our goal is to help our students grow and achieve their dreams.
