Social Emotional Learning and independence will allow my students grow and blossom with confidence. The uncertainty that Covid has brought to all our lives, has impacted my students with strong emotions that can be overwhelming. During Social Skills we learn about emotions, social situations, mindfulness and self-advocacy. Adding books to our SEL library will allow students to hear stories that explain big emotions and model positive behaviors in challenging situations. Besides reading the books aloud to the class, my students can access the books as needed. Many choose to revisit them in our calm corner when they need a break from daily stresses. Headphones will allow my students to focus and work independently as paraprofessionals and I help other students one-on-one or in small groups. Osmo is a popular activity that will help students practice and reinforce skills while having fun! Thank you for your help in funding my project!
