While much of our learning is hands on, there is still a fair amount of reading and writing to do quietly at a desk. This is where several of my students are struggling with focus. Some students have expressed a desire to stand during this time, but clipboards are a poor substitute for the surface area of a desk. I’m asking for adjustable height desks to help alleviate this problem. Because 4th grade students vary so much in height, I feel it is necessary to make these desks adjustable rather than fixed. Since my students rotate in three 90 minute blocks throughout the day, ten adjustable height standing desks would allow 30 of my most squirrely students to stand while getting their deskwork done. These desks could also be pushed together to make experiment tables for some of our group projects as well.
