As I have been learning in my LETRS training, decodable texts help struggling readers to bridge the gap between phonics instruction and word practice to connected text. Teachers and students at Hooper Elementary will use these texts to improve reading instruction during small group reading time. Many students are struggling in their reading development due to learning losses from COVID-19. The decodable texts and game materials will help me and the teachers I work with to assist young students in gaining the reading skills needed to become proficient readers this year!
