My kindergarten students would love the opportunity to learn through play, imagination, and hands-on activities. COVID-19 has put a burden on students and teachers. Students need to come to school knowing that they can have fun and enjoy learning. By allowing students to learn through play they can once again enjoy learning. Learning through play aides in both academic and social-emotional learning. The dress up items that I am asking for will help students learn about our community helpers and how to be respectful citizens. The math manipulatives give students hands on materials to help them with math skills such as; counting, classification and sorting. The mega blocks and foam blocks will be used to help student learn about colors, shapes, sizes and positions. The puzzles will be used to help students with fine motor skills and problem solving skills. The kitchen items and cash register will help students learn how to share, count, and will aide in listening and speaking skills by communicating with each other. The cart, paper and art easel will be used in an art area where students can be creative and use their imaginations. The sight word fishing game is a fun and engaging way to help student remember their sight words. The rhyming puzzles help those students that need extra help with rhyming words. The individual white boards will be used during instruction as an engaging way to show off their learning. The pocket charts are a resource that I will use to teach letters and sounds. In short, these items will be used to help students be engaged in their learning.
