The resources being requested will help students have the opportunity to be in a more organized environment, filled with a few more items to help them engage in a variety of activities. During the school's lunch/study hall break, many students-specially English Language Learning students, come to my classroom. They find this to be a safe and welcoming place as they relearn many social skills they have not used while away from in person learning, or having to cover their faces with a mask. They look for activities to do and many of the items on my list will help them be engaged in social opportunities. I have discovered they love to draw and play games. Often times I erase their drawings as I prepare to use the whiteboard for my lessons, so we definitely need more whiteboard space. Many times their drawing help build connections with others as they find things in common, or help them they learn about something new as their drawings become a topic of conversation. Provided with the space and resources, students can create amazing things. This project will continue to enable my classroom to be a safe space for students to share their talents and make connections while in an academic setting. Currently, our classroom is also in need of additional storage, so having more bookshelves will allow for more books to be out for students to engage in reading, and also provide for space to store supplies students can also use.
