The pandemic has made a big impact on our students’ learning. Since the pandemic, students now respond differently to school academics and activities within the classroom setting. I would like to create a classroom where my students feel safe, comfortable, and overall promote good physical and mental health. I would like to create flexible seating inside my classroom that will allow my students to feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. It would encourage the students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. Students would be more active, engaged, enthusiastic and relaxed. It would sharpen higher order thinking skills, like emotions and problem-solving skills and conflict resolution. I need several items to make this project successful. I will need several types of flexible seating (chairs) for students and a document camera. Flexible seating choices will be available throughout the classroom and the document camera will display school assignments where students can easily see the lesson taught from any area within the classroom.
