Because of the hands-on nature of technical theatre, students have lost valuable learning time due to school shutdowns, as they cannot construct sets or sew costumes at home. These materials will allow more students to work on projects all at the same time, without having to wait for materials to be available. Currently, I have very large class sizes without nearly enough supplies for all students to participate at once. We are asking for sewing machines, drills, drill bits, paintbrushes and sewing scissors so multiple students can be working on technical theatre projects at the same time. We are also asking for a shopvac to clean up in our scene shop to ensure we are meeting fire code and keeping students safe. These supplies will allow all students to be active participants in classroom learning and to have hands-on experiences which are invaluable to their learning.
