The use of tap shoes as a resource, and teaching tap concepts shows students how one subject can be applied to another. Especially in light of COVID-19, it's hard to see how math and music apply to daily life when there are so many other big things going on in students' lives. When you show students how math applies to music, how fractions apply to rhythm, and how foot dexterity can be used to make music, it puts everything else in perspective. Through my tap dance unit, I hope students find higher importance for their other subjects, because they make the connection to how it can apply to their life.
