Special education students are often the first to be left behind or to get necessary resources taken away when funding is needed elsewhere. In the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, these students have fallen even more behind than their peers and have felt neglected when it comes to their unique needs. Special education students need unique tools and materials even under ideal circumstances, but even more so in exceptional times such as this pandemic. Items like standing desks and headphones for speech-to-text will be incredibly valuable for these students who may not be able to learn to their highest capability in a traditional classroom setting. Allowing students to have their own copies of books and composition notebooks lets them practice their reading and writing skills whether quarantined at home or with their peers in the classroom. All of these items will be used directly by students to give them an education in a way that fits their learning styles and needs.
