Crazy Traits provides hands on learning that engages the students. Crazy Traits is a learning tool that provides fun and innovative education about genetics and evolution. The students learn through a series of games and activities that traits are inherited by chance. Not only are the students engaged in the learning of genetics and inheritance, they are learning terminology too that will build their science vocabulary. Alleles, genotypes, and phenotypes are also explored. Students flip special coins that represent each parent, record their outcomes, and build a "Crazy Creature" based on the results. Many concepts and lessons can be covered with this one learning tool, adaptation, biodiversity, dominant and recessive traits, environmental influence and so much more. The students will look forward to learning about genetics and other topics that will arise through the curiosity that crazy traits will bring.
