Many students didn't get the chance to play with toys while they were learning at home. Play and music will inspire my students to comment on their environment, request objects, and interact with their peers and other adults, now that we are able to move away from screens. Providing toys that allow for the use of creativity and imagination for younger students and students with intellectual delays helps improve engagement and communication. Free play improves social skills, language skills, and is just plain fun! It promotes the carryover of skills into the classroom and the home and fosters relationships between students, which has been difficult throughout the past two years.
