The past few years have been a whirlwind for my students as they have grappled with figuring out online learning platforms and programs in the face of a worldwide pandemic. This break from in-person learning not only showed how important it is to teach our students how to use technology and all of the tools that come with it, it has also had an impact on their education and understanding. We are working hard to fill any gaps that Covid-19 left. Two ways that I am doing this in my classroom are small-group centers and Lexia, an online literacy program that targets specific student needs. In order to utilize Lexia for everyone, and to keep the rest of my class actively engaged in meaningful learning activities while I am giving remedial instruction to small groups, my students need headphones that work well and fit around their heads. Having enough headphones for both of my classes would allow my students to fully utilize all of the help that is available to them and would make a world of difference in their reading ability. It will also allow me to be able to familiarize them with technological components that they will likely use the rest of their lives!
