Students in public schools come into the building with varying backgrounds. Some students have faced trauma in their lives that can affect learning. When a student is dealing with the effects of trauma, it can quite literally block the brain from learning. The brain remains in constant fight or flight mode for some of these students and learning academic content becomes a struggle. Mental health support for students in schools can help remove some of the trauma barriers so that students can learn more effectively. As a School Counselor, I can use apps on iPads to help students with their mental health journey as well as track their data so I can see progress.
